Default How to go about upgrading while preserving baseband (3GS)
    Hello,

    I have a 3GS running on fw 4.0.1 and baseband 05.13.04.
Lately it seems more and more apps require 4.2+ fw so it has pushed me to consider my options on upgrading the firmware.

I'm dependant on my ultrasnow unlock so I believe I need to preserve my current baseband.
If I've understood correctly the only way to do this is by installing custom fw. also if my memory serves me well the only way to do that is with pwnage tool that is only for mac?

Is this still the case or is there any other way to achieve the same end result?
I don't have a mac available (because my old macintosh plus doesn't count so i'm really hoping there's another solution that i've missed. I guess l2bootcamp would be one solution but currently holding it as the last possible option.

Thanks for any help in advance.

    -SF

Yes, there is this Snowbreeze 2.7.3 for PC from iH8sn0w.com | Jailbreak your iPod touches and iPhones to create a custom fw of 4.3.3
