Default 1.1.1 is downgradable to 1.0.2 I just did it!
For some reason I couldn't post in the news forum. This is real I'm not a spammer and I have been on here awhile. I have confirmed this and have downgraded from 1.1.1 to 1.0.2

Here is the link I got it from at hackintosh.

Thanks to great finds by members, WE ARE NOW ABLE TO DOWNGRADE OUR PHONES!!!! I just wanted to make a simple guide for people with PC's to follow

Start iTunes and plug in your 1.1.1 phone

In 1.1.1, hold Power and Home buttons and count 10 seconds (your phone will turn off, just keep counting), release the power button but continue to hold the home button until your phone is recognized by iTunes. (phone screen will be blank)

A message will pop up and ask you to restore your iPhone. Holding down the SHIFT key, click on the restore button. Navigate to your 1.0.2 software
    (http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite....8_Restore.ipsw)

    Begin restoring...

When it's done, you will get an ERROR, click OK. Your phone should show a yellow triangle. Leave iTunes running and run AppTap.

AppTap might encounter an error as well, however, it will bring your phone to the Activation screen. Once again, start iTunes, ignore all messages from it, and run AppTap. Now it will jailbreak your phone and install Installer. (You may have to retsart your PC after arriving at the activation screen if iTunes isn't recognizing your phone)

Simply use iASign or whatever you use to bypass activation.

Your phone is now back to 1.0.2.

    (I am using iTunes 7.4.3.1)

    WI-FI, calls, everything fully functional!

Is AnySim confirmed to work or would I need to do the OTHER method. Look in the other thread and they got the Apptap link for the PC users.

    YEAH!!!!

This totally works - I just did it and I'm now looking at 1.0.2 again.
I had upgraded to 1.1.1 and found nothing worth keeping.

Thanks so much for this info. It needs to be front & center for the folks out there.
I used a PC to do the process and I'm not sure if it's possible to do on a Mac. I originally tried to recover on my Mac and you never get to the "yellow triangle" stage.

okay i tired this method little while ago it worked fine i was able to downgrade it but after a while my phone kept getting stuck at the apple logo and my touchscreen wouldn't respond at all - i tried everything my screen wouldn't accept any responses from my finger..anyways i was scared so i re-booted it and restore to 1.1.1 which worked fine and now I can't seem to go back to 1.0.2 i keep getting the same error: "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1)."
here is an image of what i get after i try to reboot in restore mode:

I honestly don't know what to do anymore..I just paid $60 for iPhoneSimFree App and can't even use it..
    any help would be appriciated
