Default JB iPod Touch 3G from 3.1.2 to 4.1?
I have my iPod Touch 3G Jailbroken on firmware 3.1.2, Does thee newer firmware offer anything over my current firmware?

If so, how do I go about upgrading to 4.1 firmware which is jailbroken?

I'm new to jailbreaking so excuse for my lack of knowledge, I do know about the PSP firmwares though

You can upgrade to 4.1 then use greenpoison or limera1n to jailbreak again. Quite a few things you will get like background wallpaper, multitasking, gamecenter, folders etc.

So I upgrade to the official 4.1 OS through iTunes and then I jailbreak?

Thanks, I'll get to it then.

Slight problem. When I run the update it seems to fail after extracting, do I need to restore the iPod from the Jailbreak before I can update it?

I am using the Blackra1n Jailbreak which I need to run when I turn my iPod of completely.

I was receiving the error message "ipod software server could not be contacted" so I did as follows:

    1. On the Start menu, click Run
    2. In the Open field type cmd and click OK.
    3. In the resulting window, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Return on the keyboard.
    4. You should see a message that the DNS Resolver Cache has been successfully flushed.

And now it's begining to update without the need to restore.

    Thanks anyway

It's finished; that was quick. I never knew it kept yor settings, shame about the music and videos I'll have to re-sync though
