    Question Cydia crash
I used to mod my razr and was pretty good at it but don't have much time to really get in to understanding my iPhone. I'm hoping some of you can take a little pity on me and help me out since i don't have time to research older posts to try in solve this prob myself as I used to do. Ive only jail broken and installed some good apps and tweaks with Cydia. I recently updated some apps installed thru Cydia. While the updates were installing Cydia crashed. When I tried to reopen Cydia it would start to open then would just close. I shut down then restarted but this did not solve anything. I resynched with iTunes but that did nothing. Right now I haven't upgraded to the latest version with iTunes. I didnt want to risk unjailbreaking. I'm still using 3.1.3 with firmware 05.12.01 on a iPhone 3G. I also stored my SHSH on Cydia. If I upgrade or restore with iTunes can I rejailbreak my phone and start from scratch. Or is there a way to simply reinstall Cydia. Thanx in advance for any help and advise!

    Ssh to /var/lib/apt/lists
Delete everything EXCEPT the partial folder.
Go into the partial folder and delete everything in there.
Reboot an cydia should be fine.

If on pc use win-scp (it's freeware) you need to be on the same wifi network. Swipe sbsettings to get your host Wifi up address, name is root, password is alpine(you should change this password afterwards)

installed winscp, so I put "root" in the host name and and make up a user name, and password is alpine. where do i put the wifi ip address?

wait i get it, ip goes in host and root goes to user

i tried alpine and dottie as passwords and both give access denied

I may have a solution for you, I have had the same problem in the past and tried this and it worked for me. I also helped a few people on this forum out with similar problems.

First, using iFile on your iPhone, or using SSH on your computer (if you don't know how to SSH into it, look up a guide on the forum)

    Navigate to var/lib/dpkg/updates

You will see files there with numbers (such as 0000, 0001, 0002, 0003, etc). Delete all the files with numbers, I only had 4 though another person I helped had like 25. (Copy these files to your computer first as a back-up just incase).

Turn off your phone and turn it back on.

    Start Cydia

If all goes well, Cydia should run as normal with no problems. If it still crashes, replace the files you deleted back in the folder to be safe. If this method doesn't help you, then I can't help you any further. Let me know if this works!

You must have changed your password at some point?
Try diskaid, I think you have to pay for it though.

It sounds like your doing everything right, but the password is wrong. Are you sure you didn't change the default password?

Ok good, now copy all the numbered files to your computer and delete them from the updates folder. Reboot the iPhone and all should be well next time you run Cydia. Let me know if it works buddy
