Default Jailbreaking Help - iPhone 3GS to iOS4?
I'll admit it I've looked around a little but I figured I would post to get an expert's help. What I have figured out so far.

    iPhone 3gs Jailbroken w/ BlackRain still on 3.1.2 (7D11)

I've already used PkgBackup, and AppBackup. I have also downloaded iPhone3,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw from iphonehacks

That's about as far as I have gotten, I don't want to mess anything up so where do I go from here?

    Thanks,
    NAte

    Correction I d/l'ed (iPhone2,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw) it says that's what I should dl for a 3gs

    Anything else I should do?

Do you have a tethered or untethered jailbreak?

If you have an untethered jailbreak at 3.1.2 with Blackra1n (Power up iphone without the help of pc) then you can download PC ;Snowbreeze 1.7 or Mac :Pwnage tools 4.0.1. You can now cook a custom firmware of iOS 4.0 from your official 4.0 ipsw. Once done, put your iphone into recovery mode and do the Shift + Restore to the cook firmware on your desktop.
Once restored , you are already jailbroken at IOS 4.0
Unlock with UltrasnOw again from Cydia.

I connected my iphone to my pc when I jailbroke it

What if it was a tethered jailbreak?

If you have a tethered jailbreak at 3.1.2 by Blackra1n, then you must restore to stock firmware and then do the jailbreak.
