    Default iPhone 3GS 3.1.3 - Upgrading to 4.0.X
Hello any help is much appreciated.

    I have just received a iPhone 3GS on iOS 3.1.3 / MC131X / 05.12.01 - I want to upgrade to to 4.0, 4.0.1.

The phone came already unlocked and at the top of Cydia it says "This device has SHSHs on file for iPhone OS / iOS 4.0, 4.0.1"

I opened up tiny umbrella and saved my SHSHs for 4.0

I also asked to save them locally.

Can you help me on what steps I should take to upgrade from 3.1.3 to 4.0/4.0.1

    Thankyou.

You can check here on how to do it, you have already done some of the work yourself.

Thanks for the reply, I have tried what you have suggested but I am stuck on 'Verifying iPhone for restore." - I have tried both the restore and update button btw.

Actually it has now decided to work and has restored/upgraded to 4.0, but now i am stuck on the "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not seem to be supported" - -.-

You need a phonebook sim or original carrier sim to activate and get past that screen.
