Question Restore iPhone with iOS 4.0.1
    Hello,

    i have an iPhone (US-Version) 3GS 16GB with
    iOS 4.0 and Booloader 6.4
I have made erase all contents and condigurations.
After this my iPhone ist in DFU mode. If I want do restart it, it goes in a continious reboot.

The only way for me ist to restore another Firmware like 4.0.1.
But it wonīt work. I always become the message ....error 3194.
This is because Apple is no longer sining up OS 4.0.1.

If I restore with 4.0.2 I canīt make an jailbreak and an unlock.

    What can I do?
    Any idea?

    Thanks,
    kantiran_2010

    No, he absolutely can not. Redsn0w can't jailbreak a 3GS on 4.x

The only chance you have of restoring to 4.0.1 is if you clicked the 'Make my life easier' button in Cydia. If you did, you can read this article on how to downgrade: Caching Apple's Signature Server - Jay Freeman (saurik)

    any idea's on the error 3194 when restoring 3gs ios4.02 to 3.1.3?
a few people say this works for them

    CWindows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
    open with notepad
delete any line that has to do with apple and add this at the bottom:
    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
save and close then start the process

    but when i add
    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
and try to save i get this

    so i'm unable to continue
be very gratefully for your help
    many thanks

I am trying to ge from 4.0.2 to 4.0.1 and am at the exact same area. 3194 on the IPSW.

I do not know how Cydia would help with SHSH if the device was not jailbroken to begin with, plus the IPSW would be restoring normal firmware anyhow so I am not sure how SHSH comes into play at all.

    @kantiran_2010
Were you jailbroken and saved your SHSH for 4.0 before you put it in DFU?

    @AmadeusKaelPyralis
If you are on 4.0.2 and you never saved your SHSH you cannot downgrade for that reason and because Apple has stopped signing 4.0.1.

I was never jailbroken to begin with on my new 4. Thus, the no SHSH problem. Could there not be someway to duplicating someone elses or another iPhone's SHSH that you saved (or coould save) to use?

  10. #10
I'm not completely sure on the details of how the SHSH files work, but as far as I know each device's ecid is paired to your SHSH files thus you can only use your own, which is why there is so much talk of backing it up in the first place, and why Cydia makes it so easy.

From the picture, I think Windows wants to prevent you from modifying the file. To get around that, copy it to the desktop, make the changes and then copy it back to the right location.

If you backed up your shsh with tiny umbrella just use that to do the restore. There should be a start server button, press that and you should be able to restore to 4.0.1. No need to mess with your host files.

Nope, redsn0w 0.9.5 can only jailbreak 4.0.2 on iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC)

just to comfirm that this does work for the 3gs downgrade, if anyone may be stuck. but you may need RecBoot to kick it out of DFU mode

    Solved.

Iīve started TinySSH-Server because I have saved mit SSH Files before. Then I make an upgrade to iOS 4.0.1.
After this my iPhone is asking for the right provider card.
In my case AT&T. I had one.
Then jailbreaking with jailbreakme.com and Unlock over Ultrasn0w.

Now my iPhne works fine with T-Mobile Germany.

    Thanks for help,
