    Default cydia has SHSH for 4.0
    ok... so i have an iphone 3g and i messed it up and i had to upgrade to 4.0.1 since it was still signing..... now since cydia says that it has my 4.0 SHSH on file or whatever, how can i downgrade..... i know that this has probably been said before, but can someone tell me.....

    the guide is for a 3GS and 3.1.2 but it is the same process for the 3G and 4.0

    whenever it goes to verify that with apple it says that it cant do it for some reason.....

    the easiest thing to do would be either create or download a custom 4.0 ipsw and use shift+restore to restore to it, it bypasses the apple verification altogether because it is a custom firmware

    I personally prefer pwnagetool, if you don't have access to a Mac then there are lots of places (use google) to download one created with pwnagetool, it is never recommended to restore from a backup of a jailbroken phone, sync with iTunes before and after and you will have all your pics, apps, and contacts back

    is there a way to get my notes and stuff like that back???

    and i cant find any custom firmwares to download through google

    ok.... so i just thought of something..... if i can put my phone into DFU mode and try to do the restore, but it doesnt work, is there a way to get out of DFU mode?

    If the restore fails in DFU mode are you not out? Try going into recovery mode instead...

    no i mean like if io put it in DFU mode to try and if doesnt work, if i just shut it off and then turn it back on will it be out???? i have already tried it in restore mode......

    Uhhh, no? If you get into recovery mode you could try to use something to kick you out...
