    Default Wtf? 13GB when I have 16GB
How come I have 13GB only on my 16GB iPhone??

but it says I have 14GB under capacity but then on the bar below it says 2GB free and I added up my apps and music and they only equal up to 11GB so im only getting 13GB so wtf is wrong with that???!?

1GB is a lot for me.

because all hard drives are like that, (even SSD's which iPhones, iPod touch, and iPad use) its like if you buy a 1TB HDD, you only get roughly 979GB

Better than having an 8GB 3G cuz it always shows 7.1GB for me :P

You still have 4GB more than me!

But yeah...like everyone else says, it seems to be normal.

Indeed, every drives formatting, as well as the firmware installed will take up quite a bit of space. As well as all the files that iTunbes doesn't recognize like your Cydia apps, themes, downloaded files, etc.

And I have 22.2GB more then you lol, but yeah like I've been saying no hard drive is the size it claims to be, also check cydia, gives a better idea how much space you have left

You probably have a 3GB system partition or something.

Default Either give me the FULL capacity, or change the labelling...
    Just giving my
Anyone else feel that way? (I know it'll never change, just feels good to vent abit!)

Per installed software on the device, that's all nothing to worry about.

You'll never have a device that actually has the full amount of storage space as advertised simply bc I'm sure you want the device to have an OS to function. This also incorporates formatting. A lot of companies will measure storage space based on decimals rather than binary. Instead of 1024 mb being 1gb, 1000mb is 1gb. So when you add it all up, the larger your storage space the more "missing space" you'll have. 24mb here and there makes a diff. But yes it's very irritating.

Apple's "GB" for device capacity measurement is equal to one billion bytes. iTunes and Xcode apparently measure gigabytes as 1,000 mebibytes (1,048,576 bytes). iOS in Settings measures in gibibytes (1,024 MiB), or so I believe it does. It's not at all straightforward.

So that means the 16GB units only have 14.9 GiB, 32GB units are packing 29.8 GiB, and the 64 are only holding 59.6 GiB. The 1.2 gibibytes or so the OS occupies (unpacked) is not counted in the device's iTunes/on-device storage meter. Certain NAND sectors are system-occupied and file header information is inaccessible to the user as part of the filesystem formatting.

So yeah, 13.7 GiB free or so on a new 16GB device sounds right.
