Try deleting the last thug you installed through cydia then respring. If that doesn't work, make sure your cydia downloads are all compatible with ios4. Delete anything that isn't.

I love my jailbreak!!! So far so good. I could care less about the graphical lines on the screen when I reboot and I never reboot often enough to care about the extra boot time. (I never rebooted much before jailbreaking, so I don't know or care if the boot time is longer now), my battery life seems the same after the jailbreak, and I have yet to notice any bugs or problems with Cydia.

    Jailbreak.me was awesome for me!!!

On a side note: Hopefully, as time passes, more Cydia apps will be updated for iOS 4.0. (Cydgets, Lockdockbar, Volumeboost, etc.)

Idk, I have a 3Gs, a 3G(gf's), and an i4 for each of us. ALL of them jailbroken with jailbreakme.com, and the only thing I see is the graphical errors on the boot screen. Cydia is just as slow as ever from it's loading reloading re-reloading, but it works and I'm grateful for it. Now, the 3G is a dog, but that's because of iOS4 and the extreme lack of processing power. The 3Gs and both i4s run great. Bat life is amazing on the i4. The only b*tch I have is lack of iOS4 compatibility on some apps, but I don't make them, or have the ability to do so. They'll come when they get here. My $.02? Best jailbreak to date.

So is it really that easy if you mess up and accidentally update to 4.02 that you can shift/restore to a 4.01 IPA and use jailbreakme.com?

Yep. If you have your SHSH's on file. I downgraded legit through iTunes 2 days after 4.0.2 dropped. I'm sure they've stopped signing by now though....

4.0.1 is actually still being signed.
