If you run a jailbreak over another jailbreak, you'll brick your phone.

Youd have to restore to either 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 to run Spirit on it. If you dont have those SHSHs on file, you cant restore so you cant rejailbreak. You cant grab those SHSHs as of now cuz the signing window is gone already. If you want, you can upgrade to 4.0.1 (assuming you dont have the 4.0 SHSHs either) via Sn0wbreeze or PwnageTool (dont upgrade directly to 4.0.1 in iTunes) with shift+restore to custom fw. Be aware if you dont have your SHSHs for anything below 4.0.1, you cannot ever downgrade back down.

I wouldnt take that risk if I didnt have my SHSHs for 3.1.x.

    Id wait.

It's a tethered jb on new boot phones. That's all really.

I wouldn't recommend going up period without SHSHs.

And OP wanted an untethered JB so haha, kinda pointless to go up to 4.0.1 I suppose as well. Yeah definitely stay unless the 3.1.3 or 3.1.2 SHSHs are available.
