Thread: Advice Please

    Default Advice Please
    I have an Iphone 32 gig 3GS.

    Bootrom: 359.3

    Firmware: 4.0

I previously had 3.1.2 jailbroke on my phone. It had been jailbroke for quite a while (almost a year?) I messed around on Cydia for quite a while and did more than the average joe would do with jailbreaking.

I can not for the life of me remember if I had clicked to save SHSH blobs, or check the box that said "make my life easier." I would presume that I would of, but I can't say yes 100% I did save them.

I have been reading on here for 2 weeks. I wish I had read all of this before I upgraded to 4.0.

I'm reading posts after posts and I go in circles.

Can someone please advise me on what I could do to Jailbreak my phone? 32 gig, 3GS, running 4.0. Previously jailbroken on 3.1.2 for almost a year.

I've read about the downgrade tutorials and I tried. However, I got the 3194 error each time.

If I knew something would work, I'd love to try and see where I can get with it.

Please advise. I have searched but it seems to change from day to day as to what will work and not work.

    Thank you in advance.

    Brian

Well, you have to downgrade to be able to get back to 4.0, so if you don't have those shsh files, it's not gonna be able to work.

    I downloaded TinyUmbrella.

I got it to run. I left it on default and clicked on "Save My SHSH"

The ECID # shown is different than the one I found in the USBViewer program while my phone is in DFU mode. The ECID # shown is 12 digits long, all numbers. The ECID # I found was (6) 0's and then a 10 digit alpha numeric number.

Which ECID # is correct? When I leave the 12 digit number in the ECID blank, it comes back with this report:

Name: BSouders’s iPhone Baseband: 05.13.04 - 6.4_M3S2 07/26/2010 15:30:47.062 Processing SHSH Request... 07/26/2010 15:30:47.078 Asking CYDIA for SHSH blobs for iPhone3GS 4.0.1 (8A306)... 07/26/2010 15:30:50.515 SHSH SUCCESSFULLY saved! [Click Here to Open] 07/26/2010 15:30:50.562 You have saved your SHSH locally and the request was sent to CYDIA. This means that CYDIA DOES have your SHSH. Do NOT bug semaphore about the Cydia home page showing this version. 07/26/2010 15:30:50.562 Caching shsh files... 07/26/2010 15:30:50.593 Found [1] shsh files to cache... 07/26/2010 15:30:50.625 Cached [1] shsh files

Now when I change it to 3GS 3.1.2, it comes back and says that Cydia does NOT have the SHSH on record. How could it have the SHSH for 4.0 but not 3.1.2 which I had jailbroken?

Am I up a creek without a paddle until something new comes out?

    Thank you.

    Brian

If Cydia doesn't have it, it won't work period. It can save any firmware version that is currently being signed (right now the only one that can be saved is 4.0.1)

If you were jailbroken on 3.1.2 and it wasnt with Spirit, go ahead and jailbreak it now with Spirit. Or you can try Sn0wbreeze to create a custom fw to shift+restore to and It will be jailbroken. Youre on the old boot so thats good for custom fw's. If you used Spirit when you were on 3.1.2 then yes youd need those SHSH files to downgrade and rejailbreak with another method. Then upgrade and jailbreak again.

I do not have SHSH blobs saved on Cydia. Anniex423, does that mean the two methods you mentioned will not work?

I downloaded Snowbreeze V1.7 and tried that route. Ran my 4.0 ipsw file through and it made me a custom firmware. I turn on Itunes and run shift+restore and on two different computers, both times, Error 1604. I've tried the restore not in the restore mode, and in restore mode. Same thing.

Now I'm going to try Spirit, but I'm losing confidence in the post.

    Anniex........... Help?

Spirit will not work, I am at firmware 4.0.

Hm... You might be stuck. You really dont have the 3.1.x SHSH files? Not even 3.1.3?

I checked with TinyUmbrella after I figured out my ECID number using USBviewer. I checked all firmwares and it came back negative each time. SOL?

Yeah...sorry but it looks like it. It seems you need to do the downgrade then jailbreak 3.1.x before being able to upgrade to 4.0 and jailbreak that.
