Default Another can't get in to recovery mode post.. sorry...
I have a 3gs running 3.1.2 and I'm trying to get in to recovery mode.

I have 7 iphones sitting on my desk right now, I'm sure of the process for recovery and DFU but I can't get this phone to go in to either. The battery won't charge and it freezes when it gets to the apple. It just sits there showing the loading wheel.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate.

    Thanks

turn phone off (press power and home to together to force power off if you have any difficulties with this) hold down home button and connect to pc. Simple.

One of the first things I tried, it won't do it.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

When I do that it goes to the "charge battery pic"

wtf, I got it to recovery mode.

I've been screwing with it for 10 hours, now it's there.

I unplugged it just as it started to freeze, I think the timing made it go "wtf" and default to recovery or something.

I don't know, I'm happy with it though.

    Default Recovery Mode
I had the same problem getting into recovery but the last post is how i do it every time.

    1. Turn off phone while NOT plugged into PC.
    2. Hold Home button in whilst plugging in the phone to PC.
    3. Keep home button pressed until iTunes + cable is being displayed (can take 20ish seconds but it always works for me). Just remember to keep home pressed until in recovery.

DFU mode is harder so its easier to follow a youtube video.
