Default Some questions about jailbreaking (3G, iOS 4.0)
    1. Is this even possible? (if so, point me to reputable instructions)
    2. Do the jailbroken multitasking and wallpaper apps cost any money?
    3. How easy is it to go back to iOS 4.0 (or the previous iOS)?
    4. If I do unjailbreak it, do I lose all of my pictures and music?
    5. I read on the guide to jailbreaking on reddit that turning off my phone unjailbreaks it? True? I turn my phone off at work to avoid the temptation of getting it out and getting fired, so if this is true, it is a concern.
    6. How do I update my music once I jailbreak it?

    1) Yes!
    2) Some do, kirakae (sp?) is free! Also, most themes are free but there are some that charge - these generaly tend to be more complete themes though.
3)You need to save SHSH blobs to downgrade (read here)
    4) Nope, iPhone should keep the same content as before
    5) That sounds something like a Tetherd Jailbreak. It doesn't "Un-jailbreak" it as such, but you will need to connect it to a PC and re-jailbreak it" You'll need to check that you're doing an Un-tethered jailbreak to avoid this.
    6) Sync up with iTunes baby! Just the same as before!

Is saving the SHSH blobs something I need to do before downgrading? And when I downgrade from the jailbreak to iOS4 I keep all of the old data? Sorry if this is already answered in that article, I'm about to go to work and don't have time to read it right now.

SHSH can be done at anytime while apple is signing that FW, whether your JB or not.

If you are doing a downgrade, i.e. Shift+Restore you should backup first as this is a fresh OS install and can cause you to lose stuff.

Okay, so lemme get this straight. In the event that I need to unjailbreak my iPhone, I just back it up and then restore the phone and Apple will be none the wiser that I had it jailbroken before?

One last question before I stop annoying you: is there anything that could happen to my phone that could cause Apple to find out that I had it jailbroken? Like, can it get messed up so bad that I can no longer restore it?

Edit: Is the guide you linked to on here for a tethered jailbreak or not?

    Bump

Just hit restore in iTunes and then restore and update in the event you need to go back to normal. It's basically impossible to screw the phone up beyond repair, if it bricks, hold power and home and pop it into recovery mode. 3G jailbreaks are NOT tethered.
