Default What is all this save SHSH files?
What is the big deal about saving the SHSH files? I don't get why everyone is hurrying to do this? Can someone please explain what all this means?

Its only important for 3gs and iphone 4 users. Apple/itunes has quit signing lower firmwares like 3.1.3, 3.1.2 etc meaning you can't downgrade to them on a 3gs or iphone 4 as easily you can a 3g. So to get onto those older firmwares you can save your shsh files and be able to downgrade to them. So itunes will think it is getting the shsh files from the apple server but really it is getting them from the cydia server or wherever you saved them yourself.
Have they released the jailbreak in the app store yet?

I already did my 4.0 blobs a few days ago with TU to both Cydia and localhost.

My question is for archiving the 4.0 SHSH file, I copied the contents of the folder:
    C: \Documents and Settings\<username>\.shsh

...and stored it on another drive for backup. May email it to my self for further backup.

The SHSH files are 60kb (small). Are these the only files I need to store, there's not something elsewhere on my HDD?

    I'm sure it's a dumb question. lol
