    Default Iphone 3gs 3.1.3 not recognized
    I used Spirit to JB my phone a month or so ago and everything was fine. Time went by, apps were added and now when i connect to iTunes i get;
    Itunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occured (OxE8000022).

    So i tried to re-JB the phone w/Spirit, and get this error message;
    INFO: Now listening for devices...

    INFO: read igor/map.plist

    INFO: Connected to the AppleMobileDevice.

    INFO: Version iPhone2,1_3.1.3

    INFO: Connecting to mobilebackup...

    INFO: Sending files via AFC.

    FATAL(__LINE__): Assertion failed (dl.c:198): 0 == (AMDeviceStartService(dev, service, &it, NULL)) (but it was -402653150)

    198.

    I'm affraid to restore in case iTunes still doesn't open it.

    Any suggestions? I'm not super savy on the tech stuff so please keep it simple.

    Hi,

    Restoring is the easiest way, but if you're afraid, you can try to detect what's wrong and fix yourself, but this will be much harder. For starters, I would install syslogd to take a look at the phone's log when trying to connect to iTunes, and since it's apparently a problem with connection, I'd replace my /System/Library/Lockdown/Services.plist with the original.

    If you want to go to the complicated way, I can assist you, do you use IRC?

    Well, I would love to go the easy route but as I said, what if itunes still won't open it, then what?

    Don't know what IRC is. I warned you, I'm not that tech savy.

    If I were to try and restore it and it didn't work at all after, would "they" be able to tell it had been JB and not replace it?

    If you restored to original firmware, no, they wouldn't be able to tell it had been previously jailbroken. It is very unlikely that iTunes will still give you errors after Restore, tho.

    Do you have msn messenger? If you do, PM me yours and I will add you, I can help you with the "complicated route".
