Thread: Why isn't the jailbreak working???

Default Why isn't the jailbreak working???
I'm trying to jailbreak and unlock my friends 3G on 4.0. It is 3.12 jb'ed and ul'ed, modem firmware 4.28.06, model # MBxxxxx, and bootloader 5.8 so it meets all of the requirements for sn0wbreeze (checked using f0recaset). However, when I try to restore it to my custom sn0wbreeze firmware, iTunes just stays on the "preparing iPhone for restore" forever and the iPhone stays on the recovery mode screen and never starts the restore. After this fails, I'm still able to restore him back to 3.12 no problem.

    What's going wrong here?

Try another computer or try a new custom firmware.

I'm gonna try to borrow my friend's MacBook and use redsn0w to see if that works. For now he's stuck on 3.12

If you have access to a MacBook then use Pwnage Tool to make your new 4.0 firmware

    Thank you

I have a 3G S and Windows 7 so I don't follow the jailbreak releases for the 3G and Mac OS

Pwnage Tool is the best tool out there for making custom firmwares. It is exclusively for Mac. I always download a firmware that a Mac user has hosted somewhere since I have had mixed results with the Windows tools that create them.
