Default Upgrade a JB iphone 3g from 3.0 to 3.1.3
    I have A 8G 3G iphone jb with redsn0w and currently at 3.0 .
I am trying to find out how to update to 3.1.3 , every time i try itunes wants to go to 4.0.
I tried the ALT-restore but itunes is ignoring me and wants to slap 4.0 on my phone.

It is Shift/Restore on windows. You have to download the 3.1.3 to your desktop from our Downloads section.

They have a 3G. No need to alter the hosts file.

He's trying to get to 3.1.3, I thought itunes talks to the apple server and forces the 4.0 on you. If you redirect to sauriks server you can upgrade to any firmware. i might be wrong..

I don't think apple does that for the 3G. I think the problem here is that they are not using Shift/Restore(Win) or Opt/Restote(Mac). A box should popup asking where the firmware is located on the computer.

OK this may be a stupid question... but im wondering before i screw something up... Is it required to have 3.1.3 before you can upgrade to jailbroken 4.0? Or can you do it from 3.0?

  15. #12
you can do it from 3.0 with no problems with cooked ios4

There are no stupid questions. Just unanswered ones. Be sure to update your iTunes to the newest version or you won't be able to sync your phone after the jailbreak. Put it into recovery mode and Shift/Restore or Alt/Restore to your custom 4.0.
