    Default Confused about jailbreaking/unlocking
    Hi,
I was wondering if someone with abit more knowledge could help me out please.
I've just bought my first iphone from ebay which is about 4 months old and locked to vodafone. I wanted to Jailbreak it and unlock it to use a virgin sim.

From the serial no. and model(shown below) it appears its only a few month old but when I did the bootrom version check it turns out that it's the old bootrom? Is this correct as I thought only phones that were from week 40 last year or older had the old bootrom in?

    Model: MC131B
    Version 4.0(8A293)
    Modem Firmware: 05.13.04
    Serial No: 5K0120*****
    Iboot: 359.3

Also, from what I can gather is that I can't jailbreak my phone yet unless it has previuously been done prior to installing version 4.0 and my shsh blobs are stored on Cydia(Whatever that means?). Is there any way to check whether it had been jailbroke before by the previous owner?
    Many thanks in advance, Darren.

Download TinyUmbrella and in advanced options try to retrieve your old SHSH, this will tell you if you have it saved.

Also, your phone may be refurbed meaning it could still be old boot.
