You sure your not on new iBoot?

  3. #83
Took some trial and error to get around a 1600 error but I attribute that more to me being a newb than anything else. This method worked fine for me. Had a 3GS with old bootrom running spirit JB 3.1.3 and am now running 4.0 pwned with snowbreeze.

Yes, it could, but there's no reason to do all that extra work for you. With an ipt2g old bootrom, you can just upgrade to 4.0 and jailbreak with redsn0w.

You're correct, it doesn't work with the new bootrom. That other poster is mistaken.

Tried this when it was 1st posted and worked like a charm for me!

Note for people who might get a few issues.

If you get a permission error go back on to WinSCP (I was on windows) and change the file manually to 755 hopefully that will over come any problem.
I had that problem and it worked but its wise to start all over again so use the commands "logout/exit" to exit the program, making sure when you start again to type these exact commands:

    su root

alpine (your password if you have changed it)

cd /tmp (notice the gap between the cd and / make sure its correct or your will get errors)

    chmod 755 pwn_old_boot_r1.sh

    ./pwn_old_boot_r1.sh

Once you get the message "SUCCESS or SUCCEDED" then you've done it correct your notice once you have rebooted your iPhone you wil have the Sn0wBreeze logo instead of the apple one.

If your having problems trying to restore the Custom iOS4 (Sn0wbreeze), i read somewhere that if you DO NOT put it in DFU mode and leave it on as normal, let it sync and then hold down the Shift Key (Windows) then find the custom firmware then it should restore nicely with out any problems.

    This was done on my iPhone 3Gs 32G;

    Model: MC134B
    Serial: ***42******
    Modem: 05.12.01

    Default spirit2pwn works
i have a 3gs 16go 359.3 bootrom jailbroken with spirit and i did not use all theese steps and i succeed to install a jailbroken ios4 to my phone and here is what i did

first of all you must have itune 9.2

    1.download sn0wbreez 1.6.2 iH8sn0w.com | Jailbreak your iPod touches and iPhones

    2.downlaod ios4 ModMyi Forums - Downloads - iPhone 3GS 4.0

3.make a costum firmware with sn0wbreez and when it ask you if you want to activate click "yes"

4.open cydia on your 3.1.3 iphone and add this source iWOOWIZ Repo

5.search in cydia for spirit2pwn and install it

    6.reboot your phone

7.put your phone in recovery mode

8.restore your phone with the custom firmware that you just made

Yes having an old bootrom is required to install ANY custom firmware. There currently is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to install a custom firmware on a phone that has the new bootrom.

False. You can jailbreak the new bootrom if you have your 3.1.2 SHSH Blobs saved. Its the long method and a tethered option.
