Question Help: don't remember the tool used to jailbreak
I have an Iphone 3GS with old bootrom and firmware 3.1.3
I don't remember which tool was used to jailbreak it.
    How can I test it?
I would like to upgrade to IOS4 and don't know if it is possible because I don't remember if I used Spirit.

    Thank you for your help.

Hmm, difficult to do. Try to cook a custom 3.1.3. firmware and restore it. If it lets you do it, it was JB with something other than spirit.

    Is it the only way?
Isn't there a tool (windows or Iphone) to show what jailbreak software was used for jailbreaking.

I am almost sure it was blackra1n rc3,
but I would like to be sure.

Blackra1n doesn't jailbreak 3.1.3 on the 3GS, as far as I know the only tools that will jailbreak a 3GS on 3.1.3 are pwnagetool, sn0wbreeze (both of which are used to make custom firmware), and Spirit, neither redsn0w nor blackra1n will jailbreak a 3GS on 3.1.3

If your Modem firmware ( BB ) 05.12.07, you probably have used Spirit, in which case you can't use SnowBreeze 1.6.1. But if your modem firmware is 05.11.07 or less, and you are at 3.1.3 now, you must have either used Blackra1n or CFW, then you can create SnowBreeze_iOS 4.0 to restore to it.

Sorry I should mention in my previous post I meant to say try to restore to 3.1.2.

    Was tired.

Anyway, there is no software to tell you this.

Yes no software to check which jailbreak was used.

    Ok.
So just in case my IPhone was jailbroken with spirit I should:

    Option #1:
    • fully restore to a fresh not jailbroken 3.1.2
    • jailbreak using something else than spirit
    • upgrade to iOS4 and jailbreak

    Option #2:
    • wait a few days until a new jailbreak tool supporting spirit gets out

Could you please confirm if it's right.
It's so sad because I am almost sure it was not jailbroken using spirit.

Is there an option #3? Would the following work?
    • try to upgrade to iOS4
    • see if it's working
    • downgrade to 3.1.2 if it is not

What will happen if it was jailbroken using spirit.
Will it explode and destroy the entire house killing everyone inside
Or will it just become an unjailbreakable / undowngradable unit?

If you dont have SHSH saved you will be unable to downgrade to 3.1.2 if you use that option. However, if you have 3.1.3 saved u could always downgrade to that and use spirit if worst came to worst.
