Thread: Spirit Jailbreak Work for You??

  1. #1
Default Spirit Jailbreak, Did it work for You??
I had an initial problem with my Iphone when I first used Spirit.

I don't know if it was hardware or firmware. (Phone replaced now, so cannot test)

    My question is:

Have you had any issues with Spirit JB?

If you have had problems, can you please post them, plus any solutions.

    Thanks!

The only problem I had with spirit was deleting the camera roll, but that's been fixed.

Thanks jkmonkey for replying so quickly!

Heard about this problem, and read that it had been sorted.

What I wanted to know is if anybody had bricked their phones?

Mine would not turn on at all. no DFU mode either.

Have been JB for some time now, and thought spirit was the best!

I am just a bit weary of JB my 3gs in case it breaks again. wanted to know if anybody had experienced the same as me.

Really want to JB again, but wondering if I should wait till OS 4.0.

    Cheers,

    m

It worked flawlessly for me on 2 3gs and 2 iPods.

I tried with my 3gs and it doesnt work. It keeps giving me error code 1. I think they need you to activate the iphone in order to jailbreak. I have no idea. I just wait till the new jailbreak is available or someone can give me possible answer to it.

    Hoqts,
what operating system are you using, I think you have to run spirit in compatibility mode for windows 98.

I used Windows 7 and Windows Vista. None of them work. They said we can use it on Windows 7 or Windows Vista if you change compatibility mode to Windows NT/Windows ME.

So you have run in compatible mode?

  9. #9
I guess. I dont have either one. Windows XP or Windows 98. I saw the guide and they told me to check of Windows NT/Windows Me because I am using either Windows 7 or Vista and then run as adminstrator but is not working.

@hoqts yes, the phone needs to be activated before you can jailbreak with spirit.

@Matt_tee I've used spirit on 3 3gs and two 3g's without any issue. Well except the picture thing, and I learned my lesson about that after the first one.

Thanks jkmonkey, and hoqts, that's what I meant sorry.
If you're using vista or 7, run in compatibility mode. ;-)

I've used Spirit on two 3G's with 3.1.2 and one 3rd gen iTouch with 3.1.3 all with windows 7 ...I haven't had one single issue.

The problem is i dont have a att sim card to activate it. That's why i am stuck. I hope someone can find a answer to bypass that.

By any chance, does gophone or att prepaid phone works on activating it? I cant find any answers to it.

It's not a question of bypassing it somehow. There isn't any other solution than to activate it normally through iTunes. It's not a bug/problem with Spirit either. It's not meant to hactivate for you.

To answer the question in the poll, I've used Spirit on a 3GS on firmware 3.1.2 and it worked flawless.

It is probably me being paranoid about JB! lol!

I just don't want to brick another phone!!

Must have just been a faulty battery, I will wait and see how the poll goes, but it looks good up to now!

    thanks everyone, keep going.

Been looking all over net for more info and it seems that there are a few instances where spirit has 'damaged' iPhone. I think I will wait till os 4.0 arrives then jb that. (hopefully not too long now) ;-p

Why wait for OS 4 until jailbreaking? People have claimed that jailbreaking bricked their phone from any tool you can think of. In your case, it's most likely faulty hardware. As you said yourself, the phone worked for a while after jailbreaking.

Look at it like this, think about how many people were screaming for release of Spirit, all these people then used it, and you've found a few instances of people having problems after using it. If it was the tool that was the cause, you'd see A LOT more posts about this.

You have a valid point, and thanks for replying.
I'm sorry if I sound ungrateful for spirit, I was waiting for it too!
It is me just being paranoid! (hopefully!)
and yes, it more than likely was a hardware fault, but you can't blame me for being cautious. :-)

Being cautious is fine I just don't want anyone to get scared away from jailbreaking.
