Thread: problems with Spirit - what to do

Default problems with Spirit - what to do
My iphone 3GS (currently 3.1.3 firmware, new bootrom, 05.12.01) was once jailbroken and unlocked with blackra1n (under 3.1.2) but somehow I accidentally upgraded it. Spirit jailbreak won't actually work, and after some research it turns out its because it was never activated by its original carrier. The phone is actually from AT&T, but I was using it with a Canadian SIM card (with success, under 3.1.2 blackra1n).

But alas, it has not worked since I upgraded, and having waited for Spirit, that won't work either. I"m wondering whether I should just sell it on ebay, or, alternatively, just wait until the next firmware comes out and jailbreak? I don't mind waiting, but if I'm going to run into the same issue (ie because it was never activated with its original carrier), then there is no point in waiting... and I need to get rid of it. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Spirit was never meant for anyone looking to unlock so it does not add activation support. The next unlock is not going to be developed until after FW 4.0 is released. Choice is up to you how long you want to wait.

Thanks for your reply. My question was really about whether I would eventually be able to use it IF I waited. Ie so your expectation is that by the end of the summer I will be able to download something that will make this work? Ie you expect that future software will have activation support? Thanks again.
