    Default Iphone 3GS 3.1.3 Jailbreak???
Well I HAVE An Iphone 3GS 3.1.3 unlocked (I bought it unlocked)
So then can I jailbreak my Iphone directly from 3.1.3?

    OR

Can I restore it with iphone 3.1.2 (Downgrade it) then can I jailbreak it using Blackra1n or redsn0w?

Oh and if I downgrade it would my unlock be gone?

If it has the newer bootrom (5.12.01) and it is an MC model then the answer is a resounding NO unfortunatly.

Hopefully a JB will be released soon.

Go to settings... general... about... and go all the way down... what is your Modem Firmware? Open up Cydia... is there a green line of text at the top that says "This device has a 3.1.2 SHSH on file?" If the answer to the first question is 5.11.07 and the answer to the second question is "yes" then you have a way to downgrade and keep your unlock.

Unless your phone is factory unlocked then the 5.12.01 baseband is not currently unlockable right now and there are no plans for it to be as 4.0 has a newer baseband. Apple is not signing 3.1.2 anymore so you can't downgrade.. and there's no jailbreak for newer bootrom 3GS on 3.1.3 right now.. so i'm sorry to say you're stuck.

Its 5.12.01 you bought it unlocked? Did you buy it at at&t store or apple store.

Anyway its 3.1.3 and new baseband, therefore can't be jailbroken.... Yet

if you jailbreak it you can go to cydia and get the unlock cant you? if tou can and reboots your iphone just plug it in to your computer and run blackreain again. or watever JB your using

I have a 3.1.3, 05.12.01 but it is a MB model does that make a difference from the MC model??

  16. #15
Yes..........MB model can be tether jailbroken. It's inconvenient because if you crash or run out of battery, it won't turn on unless you connect it to a computer and use blackra1n again to turn it back on. If you don't turn it off or anything/run out of battery, your good to go.

As for the unlocked.......there are other ways of unlocking the phone other than software. He probably got a hardware unlocked version of the iPhone that's why baseband doesn't matter.

To answer your question though, no you can't jailbreak the iPhone 3GS at 3.1.3 no matter what, only if you have an MB model and the old bootrom like mossberg but you don't apparently.

MC/MB model doesn't matter at all. Whether he has one or the other. All that matters is which generation phone it is and what firmware it's on. Bootrom version doesn't matter either.

Nothing can jailbreak a 3GS on 3.1.3. The only option is downgrading and that's not possible for the original poster as he doesn't have his 3.1.2 SHSH file.

  18. #17
Ummm it does matter. MC models currently can't be jailbroken and MB can with the old bootrom. It uses the 24k exploit. Here's the link Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 with Sn0wbreeze | Redmond Pie

Lets forget about the MC as that does not mean its the new bootrom!

I have a 3gs 32gig that is model MC and it is old bootrom!

  20. #19
Well generally MB models have the old bootrom and MC models have the new bootrom. I think that If you have MC and were on like something before 3.1.3 then you have the old bootrom. I'm not sure though

Whatever yea just disregard the model numbers I guess. But generally when I read the sites and everyhijg everyone refers to MC model or MB model and stuff. But basically yes you can jailbreak If you have 3.1.3 and the old bootrom.

    @pewpewbangbang

for future reference mc model numbers only apply to IPT2g...as far as 3.1.3 goes it doesn't matter if it the new or old bootrom because for him to jailbreak it he would have to be able to go back to 3.1.2 which he can't unless as dhamien said he would have to have the 3.1.2 shsh's on file..only then could he downgrade to 3.1.2 and jailbreak that and then create a custom 3.1.3 and load that...assuming he has the old bootrom...
