Default How to Jailbreak iPhone 3G S 3.1.2?
Hi, sorry if a thread about this is already posted.

I have an iPhone 3G S running on 3.1 firmware jailbroken using redsn0w and unlocked using ultrasn0w and now i want to jailbreak my iPhone to 3.1.2 firmware. I am worrying that my iPhone will be tethered and i do not want that to happen. Please tell if it is possible to jailbreak my iPhone to 3.1.2 untethered and i also need to unlock my device.

    Here are my device info:

Device: iPhone 3G S running on 3.1 jailbroken and unlocked
    Model: MC134T
    Serial Number: 87936******
    Baseband: 04.26.08

    Thanks!

It will not be tethered. Use pwnage to upgrade to 3.12 and you can still use UltraSn0w to unlock.

If you don't have a mac use redsn0w

Using RedSn0w will update the BB so he can no longer use UltrSn0w.
Pwnage is the way to go.

ahhhh, I wasn't aware that reds0w would update the BB. Thanks. But his info says he's running windows 7, pwnage is mac only. If he uses a custom firmware built by sn0wbreeze he should be ok. right?

    Find a Mac.
    I wouldn't trust Sn0wBreeze.

He must've used pwnage, and not redsn0w, to get to where he is now, so he must have access to one.

You really should consider making a custom firmware with pwnagetool. There's lots of benefits to using CFWs, one being that you preserve your baseband at a version which is unlockable by the bug-free ultrasn0w. Another benefit is that you don't need SHSH signing, meaning you don't need to worry about editing your hosts file to redirect iTunes to Saurik's server.

Blacksn0w RC1 is a buggy piece of software and RC2 has somewhat annoying workarounds to those bugs. Ultrasn0w is much better and you can only use that if you use a custom firmware and restore to that.

Thanks! But, recently, i tried to restore my iPhone to 3.1.2 official firmware and an error comes up saying that it isn't eligible for the requested build. What if i'll use a custom 3.1.2 firmware created using pwnagetool, will this error pop up?

    No
