    Default Should I update my 2G running 3.0 to 3.1.2?
    I jailbroke my 2g iphone a while back but had to downgrade to 3.0 at the time.

    It appears there's a jailbreak for 3.1.2 available now. I was just wondering if resetting my phone is worth the update or not.

    Also, there's a tutorial on it that I found HERE. Can anyone confirm if this is up to date and will work? IIR when I did mine Blackra1n just came out and wouldn't work with my gen phone with that firmware. I dunno, it's been a while.

    Why not 3.1.3? Use this guide to JB and unlock your 2G:
    Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 with Sn0wbreeze | Redmond Pie

    @MinimusMaximus
    dowload the 3.1.2 firmware from the dowload section of this forum and download redsn0w 0.9.2 from here http://xs1.iphwn.org/rs//redsn0w-win_0.9.2.zip ...redsn0w will jailbreak and unlock (if u need to) at the same time

    Thanks for the replies.

    Is the new firmware improvements worth resetting my phone and loosing all my apps though? Phones been running pretty good since I JB'd it a while back. I'd hate to invite any unnecessary issues to the table.

    unless you are trying to install an app that needs 3.1.2 then there really isn't a need to update...why try to fix what isn't broke
