Thread: iphone 3g jailbreak restore

    Question iphone 3g jailbreak restore
I got a jailbroken and unlocked iphone from a friend.

He set an encryption code on the backup in itunes and I cant disable it. I tried the code he gave me, but it doesn't work.

I was told that the only other way to fix this is to restore the phone.

    Its running 3.0 firmware.

Should I load 3.0 factory firmware, or can I just reload the jailbroken OS?

What steps should I take ?

If the phone is already jaibroken, easiest way is to restore it with custom firmware 3.1.2, then unlock it.
Or you can restore the phone with stock apple 3.1.2, then use Redsnow or Blackrain to jailbreak, then run blacksnow to unlock the phone.
If you want to restore the phone with stock apple firmwre 3.1.2, go to the download section above. Make sure you download a correct one (for 3G version 3.1.2)
Then run itunes, hold shift key while clicking at restore button, then prompt to the folder where you save the firmware 3.1.2 you just download, let the itune update the firmware.
    goood luck
