    Exclamation 3G Iphone Question
I need some assistance with my 3g Iphone.

Everytime i try to restore i get itunes error "1611".

I have searched and searched and really havent found anything that helped or pointed me in the right direction to have my iphone back working.

I cant update to 3.1.3, due to needing phone unlocked.

All input and helps would be great.

You probably already have, but have you trid a different usb port and reboot your computer before that.

According to apple's website that error is a hardware error.

    from Apples site. "The alert message in iTunes may also include one of the following numbers (but is not limited to): 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 13, 14, -18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 28, 29, -48, -50, 1002, 1011, 1013, 1015, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1608, 1609, 1611, 1612, 1639, 2009, 3004, 3013, 3014, 3015, 9807, -9808, 9844.

Error 23, 28, 29, 1011, 1012, 1611: These errors may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article and also attempt to restore while connected to a known-good computer and network to isolate this issue to the device. If the IMEI or MAC address is missing or is a default value, this can also confirm a hardware issue."

this was all I could find on that code direct link below. The article indicated the obvious. Reboot, try another computer as stated above, try different usb ports.

Can you try a custom 3.1.2 firmware. This will keep you baseband at your current level so it will remain unlockable, but it will upgrade you iphone OS to 3.1.2.

do you know you current modem firmware?

I just did it on my 3G. I don't know if it is allowed but I can give you mine. it was created with pwnage.
800 MB partition, activated, no baseband upgrade, installed cydia only. no other third party stuff.

    I'm currently running a 3G on 3.1.2 with modem firmware of 04.26.08.

here is a pict of my current setup
