    Default Urgent help needed
Hi Guys i am hoping and hoping that you can help me.

    I have an iphone 3GS running on 3.1.2 with 5.11. ??

Everything was running fine, i had Jailbroken and unlocked using black snow and rain. like i said everything was perfect untill yesterday when my phone got stuck on the Apple logo and would not come out of it....

i have my firmware backed up on Cydia so i thought it would not be a problem...Oh how wrong was i

I went first to itunes 8.2 and first it said i must veryfy my iphone so i clicked check (all ok so far) then i tried shift restore I am using windows 7 and tried to restore from the firmwear i had on my PC, itunes then said it was not compatible with my phone (this is the original one) ...

So i did some looking (a lot of looking around) and found that you had to trick itunes into beliving it was talking to apple but in fact it was talking to Cydia.

Changing the host file .... idid this and it now looks like below.

So then i go back to itunes and same thing check it is veryfied then shift restore. and the same happened (firmweare is not compatible) so the next step itunes offers is update and restore. so i click this and it says are you sure you want to upgrade to latest firware 3.1.3 (which i dont as i need unlock and jailbreak) but i figure that it is going to talk to Saurik so i click yes..... so it starts to download the latest firwear from APPLE (panic and disconnect my iphone before any damage is done).

So to the question have i done the host thing right ?

if i have why is it downloading from APPLE (or is that Cydia and my PC thinks its APPLE)

I need to know what to do next do i let itunes (cydia) download the latest firwear and can i then shift restore to 3.1.2.

I am so lost right now and have been going round and round.

Please please help me as i have a 3GS stuck on apple logo and dont want to upgrade for obvious reasons.

Can some on help me and point me in the right direction or better still give me an idiots step by step what i need to do.

    In short

Iphone 3GS was jailbroken and unlocked with Snow
    running itunes 8.2
    running windows 7.
Firmwear 3.1.2 with 5.11 (not the new unlockable 5.12)

Thanks in advance and i hope you can help before i cry.

I cant stress how urgent this is

Thanks guys you have helped me so much in the past.

for starters you need to remove the # from in front of 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com..the # tells it do disregard the command....also you will need to download an official 3.1.2 ipsw from the download section of this forum...in itunes use shift+restore (hold the shift key while you click restore) and point it at the 3.1.2 that you downloaded....

I suggest you download the file through Firefox. It needs to be an .ipsw file. Other browsers turn it into a .zip file.

Are you using blacksn0w to unlock? There are some users who experience boot loop and other problems with that.

To fix that, you should use blacksn0w RC2 instead. To get that, in Cydia go to Manage > Sources - then add the repo http://cydia.pushfix.info/ - search for and install 'blacksn0w RC2 Final'.

If you can't get the phone booted, you might need to do a restore first. Also, I'd suggest sticking to either Cydia or Rock, not both. They can interfere with each other, though some people have no problems using both. Personally, I use Cydia but it's pretty much down to personal preference.

Hi i got it fixed and limited what i installed via Rock.

Yes i am using Blacksn0w to unlock ? So the push fix thing will get rid of the bootup problem ? if so i will do it now.

My phone is running fine now Jailbroken and unlocked BUT i am worried about booting it up with reboot incase it gets stuck again. Will pushfix fix this ?

Thanks to all for advise so far you have saved my life (well not quiet )

    Thanks Guy's

Yes, I believe it does overwrite the original blacksn0w. You can read about the RC2 here: Pushfix 2.0 • View topic - Blacksn0w RC2 Final

This version also fixes the wifi bug that some users have experienced.

Thanks for that i will give it a go and hope it does overwrite because i installed blacksn0w via blackra1n and it does not show up in Cydia or Rock so dont have the option of uninstalling it.

    Thanks
