Thread: Having to reboot?

    Default Having to reboot?
I know this is going to sound really stupid to all of you guys who are extreme pros at this stuff, but I just jailbroke my 3gs today with blackra1n, and I turned off my phone without knowing that when I tried to turn it back on, it asked for me to plug it into iTunes.

I did that, and even when I did nothing happened, and it stayed on that screen. What do I do?

you have whats called a tethered jailbreak...every time you turn your phone off or it has to restart you are going to have to hook it up to your computer and re-run blackra1n to restart's not a huge deal...just make sure you don't let the battery die or install programs that require a restart when you are away from your computer

Is there no way to get an "untethered" jailbreak?

Not at this time. The reason is that newer 3GS phones have an updated bootrom that fixes the exploit that was used to boot untethered. A new exploit has been found, but it could be some time before it's made into an actual tool and released to the public.
