Default Getting replacement 3g have questions on restoring with jailbreak?
When I get the new phone do I need to rejailbreak it then reload from my back up or do I just restore it with my back up?

Will I have to download all my jb apps again or does the the restore from backup return them?

It is always best to setup as new device. Restoring from backup brings back some old hooks from the previous jailbreak that causes many issues including battery drain. Yes you will have to redownload your jb apps again. Pkgbackup is a good tool.

Jailbreak apps will not be restored from an itunes backup. there are ways of backing them up, i.e. if you use rock then you can save your package list to you ID. You can also get pkg backup from cydia and then after you run it sync with itunes to backup the contact that it created.

Rock is a good way to back up jailbreak apps. Just to be double safe I'd recommend using Rock AND downloading Aptbackup (not appbackup) and using that too. Pkgbackup works too but that's a paid app so if you have a buck or two, buy it.

I did both, Rock and AptBackup cuz one time my phone failed and lost everything and I got super pissed that I had to spend an hour redownloading everything and trying to remember what I missed.
