    Default Jailbreak at any time?
    In the past, I remember hearing that you should only jailbreak after a clean restore. However, I've heard about people jailbreaking after restoring from backups, and such. So I am wondering: does it matter if you have a "clean" phone anymore? Or can you jailbreak at any time?

    Clean Restores always help prevent any potential problems, but it is very possible to jailbreak with a backup.
    I always feel sorry for the guy in the iPhone commercials. He always gets a call right in the middle of trying to do something

    Rule of thumb;
    Upgrading a major version needs a clean restore. Upgrading a minor version should be OK with an upgrade.
    Same goes for backups - do not restore from a backup made in a FW with a major change but minor changes are fine.
    A number change is major and a decimal change (e.g. 3.0 -> 3.1) is minor.

    Okay, so it's more than fine for me to jailbreak the phone I just got yesterday from the Geniuses, which all I have done to it is make a few calls and download and install Slacker?
