Default Getting an Error while trying to reinstall Cydia
So, cydia has been not working an crashing, so I tryed to reinstall it using the get-app-remove ( close enough, I can't remeber the whole thing :P) way though Putty, and when I try to reinstall with this: apt-get install --force-yes cydia
    I get this error:
E: Internal Error, Could not perform immediate configuration (2) on essential

I'm not sure what to do. ANY help is appreciated, and thanks for viewing. IF you need anymore info., please tell me.

    Thanks

You could try grabbing the latest .deb from apt.saurik.com and then installing it. dpkg -i XXXXXX.deb

check for the last errors in var/log/apt/term.log

that should give you a little more info on the errors

then check cydia's log just for the hell of it to see if you can diagnose whatever problems you had.

    tmp/cydia.log

"cache_.Open():[dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. ]"

That was the only thing that got me, and I fixed it. otherwise there is nothing.

    drop the .deb into /var/stash/

then in terminal type dpkg -i XXXX.deb

replace XXXX with the name of the file

so did you reconfigure it now? it /should/ work now if you corrected all of the issues that where reported.

if not then get the latest cydia debian package from apt.saurik.com/debs

make sure you get the iphoneos-arm one and not darwin

I have the same problem as the OP... I have uninstalled Cydia but cannot reinstall.

I have tried to copy the cydia .deb into var/stash and run dpkg -i xxxx.deb in putty however I get an error:

    dpkg: error processing xxxx.deb (--install):
cannot access archive: No such file or directory
    Errors were encountered whilst processing:
    xxxx.deb

I am using the most recent .deb from apt.saurik.com/cydia/debs

Any help? I am missing cydia!

    Cheers!
    Dave
