Thread: update firmware after jailbreak?

    Default update firmware after jailbreak?
So what happens when i update my iphone after jailbreaking? can i simply jailbreak again, or does it explode? i have a 2g with 3.0 on it, and it IS jailbroken. also, when i was installing red snow i chose to install over an older firmware, should i have selected 3.0? make sense? i was trying to install a mms app with cydia and it thinks i do not have 3.0. i checked my phone in settings and it does read 3.0.
    thanks in advance!

If you update your firmware you can just rejailbreak. However that will cause a loss of space on your root partition. The cleanest way to do an upgrade is to restore to the new firmware, set up as a new phone, and the rejailbreak

thanks for the super fast response! not sure why i would want to update the firmware anyways, with jailbreaking, all the stuff i'm waiting for is done.

...can't believe i have video now on a 2G! almost makes me more mad at apple.
