Default How to jailbreak new ones? i have first generation iPhone
    hi

when first iPhone came out, i got one of those, from the early batches...i jailbreak and activated at that time, by some guides...

since then, over a year now, i havent been in touch with the jailbreaking world and stuff, so im not updated.

what if i want to make it to the latest OS (3.0), is it possible, any guides out there?

also, if above is doable, can i download free games after that from App store?

i would appreciate anyone who would help.

    thanks

Yeah, and of course I'll help you.

But first go up to the "Guides" section at the top of the page and click on that.

If you still get stuck just let me know.

(Sorry, get a little fed up with answering the same old questions each day - just trying to get people to help themselves on what is really a simple question).

    ***EDIT***

Go on then..... What system have you got (PC or Mac)?

here's a summary of what i have experienced during unlock/jailbreaking my iphone 2G with 3.0:

    - download the 3.0 firmware
    - download the 3.9 and 4.6 baseband
    - download redsn0w 0.8

(all these files can be found in our download section)

    - update itunes to 8.2 ( you can download it at apple's website)
    - connect your iphone and let itunes detect it
    - shift + restore and browse the 3.0 firmware that you've downloaded
    - wait until the restore is complete
    - open redsn0w 0.8
    - click browse then find the 3.0 firmware
    - wait until the next button appears
    - then put the corresponding baseband, both 3.9 and 4.6 into their specified slots
    - then click next
    - make sure you turn off your phone
    - check the "install cydia" and "unlock"
    - click next then follow the instructions on how to put your phone into DFU mode.
    - be patient, the whole jailbreaking process can take up to 5 mins. or more.
    - during the later part of jailbreaking process, BootNeuter will appear on the screen, it is normal. just wait for it to finish setting your baseband.
    - then it will automatically restart.
    - then you can enjoy your new 3.0 firmware on you iphone 2G

Here's a step-by-step guide for using OSX..... iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your iPhone 2G on OS 3.0 Using RedSn0w (Mac)

    Make sure you're on 10.5.7 & iTunes 8.2.1.

I'd make sure your iPhone is 100% okay BEFORE doing anything though.

    yeah i know.

    still, the iphone doesnt work.

i jailbreak it a year ago, and never even switched it again, now after a year, this is happening.

and whenever i disconnect the USB cable, it never even starts (not even the apple logo)

Stick it on to charge and leave it. It'll take some time if the battery's totally flat anyway, let alone after being untouched for a year.

Poor little iPhone probably just needs to feel loved again.
