Thread: 3GS: redsn0w vs purplera1n - any difference?

    Default 3GS: redsn0w vs purplera1n - any difference?
I've used purplera1n to jailbreak my 3GS and it seems to be working well. I've also used ultrasn0w to unlock and - thanks to saurik - winterboard is good.

I'm thinking about using the Dev Team's redsn0w,just because it's newer.

    Is there any difference?

Is one better than the other?

Oops...just seen there's another thread the same.

I'm pretty sure that they use the same exploit, so yes they are the same. I would use the Dev-Team's version because they have been doing it for longer so I would trust them more-so than other developers of jailbreaks.

It is the same exploit. Do you have any issues right now? If not then just stay with what you got.

It uses the same vulnerability but but different exploits. Yea, I guess some people have been using dev team products for so long that they trust that they wont jack up their phones. I prefer purplera1n, its much faster and easier jailbreak

Messed up the terms, my bad. Ya I guess brand allegiance lol. I can't do enough to promote Geo's JB. Purplera1n has absolutely everything covered and from what i've been reading, more. How can anyone argue with "make it rain", a reboot, one click, and a fully JB'd phone?

I wasn't positive if they did or not. Now I know.
