Thread: Am i Bricked? 3.0?

    Default Am i Bricked? 3.0?
I created a custom .ipsw on my mac, with Cydia, OpenSSH and a few other bits installed.

My 3g restored without a problem and was fine.

I ran Cydia, and it told me there were updates. I selected to install the updates, Cydia proceeded as normal, and began to unpack/install the 'changes'.

I noticed my phone had gone black, I thought that Cydia had finished and I was in standby...

Apparently not, my phone was off, completely. Not responding.

I tried to turn it back on, and it sparked into life, however it's stuck on the Apple. I cannot get the phone into DFU mode now and iTunes does not recognise it at all.

    At most, iTunes gives me;

Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error (0xE8000001)

I'm unsure what the problem is, but... if it is bricked, then beware!

Cheers, just restored... phew, that was scary. 4am approaching.

I just did the same 'update' again, and suffered the same problem...

This time I made a note of what it was 'updating' and i also took a copy of the 'cydia log' and emailed it to myself but I fear that the email didn't leave my iPhone...

one of these 'apps' is causing problems on 3.0

    Berkeley db
    Core utilities
    Gnu cryptography
    Gnupg errors
    Sqllite v3

Cydia appeared to install them all, but instead of giving me my 'restart springboard/cydia' button, it just stuck with the 'spinner' spinning on the status bar.

After 15 minutes of this, I hit the power button, just once, that signalled the end.

    'nutha restore for me!
