Default [ask] i need help :(
Ok firstly, i am very noob about iphone and i have been trying to find info about it in this forum, but i just dunno where to look >_<

Anyway, my iphone is the first generation 2G iphone and it is now version 2.2.. its working find until this morning i wanted to buy an application and it said that "This application requires the iPhone 2.2.1 Software Update"

My question is which version should i upgrade it to? is version 3.0 can work in 2G iphone? How do i upgrade it anyway? is it from itunes? (do i sound noob enough?) Also, when i update it, does it erase all my application and contacts? is there anyway i can back it up? coz i bought some of my application and if i have to buy them again, it will cost me quite a lot and my contacts are just to many to be put into the iphone one by one again... please anyone help me

    Cheers!

Plug into iTunes. Right click on your phone's name and click Backup.
Then click the update button. iTunes will download the latest firmware (3.0) for you and install it.
When the update is finished, it will ask you if you want to restore a backup (yes). All your progams and settings will be back, just as before the update.
