Thread: aptbackup not restoring

    Default aptbackup not restoring
I've been playing around with getting 3.0 onto my phone but had a few issues and are going to wait till it comes out properly and the jailbreak is released.

Through the process of trying 3.0 I had to restore from backup, it all worked fine, aptbackup restored fine so it was all good.
After my final attempt I again had to restore, used the same backup, followed the same process but this time aptbackup will not allow me to restore. It says the usual "Restore can only happen after a backup...."

If I ssh onto the machine and look at the /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/aptbackup_dpkg-packages.txt file it lists all the apps I had before the backup so it knows all that it needs to restore but for some reason won't

Any idea how to get aptbackup to look at the file and just get on with it?

Anyone who is in the same situation the solution is..

Take a backup of your backup file using SSH i.e.

    /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/aptbackup_dpkg-packages.txt

Load up aptbackup and tell it to take a backup
Copy back your aptbackup_dpkg-packages.txt over the newly created one
    Run the aptbackup restore

Now it will restore all your apps.

This has taught me that when using apt-backup always take a local backup of the file as well just in case.
