Thread: Alternative place to find UDID

    Default Alternative place to find UDID
    Hi!

    I'm trying to get my UDID but my ipod touch is bricked (can't restore it)

    I posted a thread earlier about this. But now I would like to know how could I find my UDID.

    I know I can find it via the Summary Tabs but all I see is Ipod, n/a, n/a, n/a...

    Another choice is to check out the plist file in the Lockdown folder. But there's no row called UDID in it..

    Another idea?

    Thanks!

    Ok I got your answer. Plz near with me. Open your file with a plist editor and there is nber called device identifier about a 1/3 of the way down. That's should be your UDID number. I had the same problem. I can't tell you the tech lingo for anything but I hope this helps.

    The name of the plist file is your UDID.

    It should be 40 characters.

    UDID stands for users device identication. In your plist file it says device number.

    If you synced the device with your PC, a plist file will be in that folder. I just confirmed it is created with the new iTunes too.

    WINDOWS XP: Copy and paste this into START>RUN and it will open the folder: %APPDATA%\Apple Computer\Lockdown

    All I got in this plist file is:
    Root
    -> DeviceCertificate
    -> HostCertificate
    -> HostID
    -> HostPrivateKey
    -> RootCertificate
    -> RootPrivateKey

    :S

    Hum there's a serial number behind the ipod, could it be this too?

    There should be a line on your plist file and it will read unique device number. It, or at least mine was about 2/3rd way the down.
