Default Having problems with wifi and sim recognition. 2.2
Im using a iphone 3g with firmware 2.2 and baseband 2.28.00 running yellowsn0w 0.9.8 which my brother bought of ebay.

I use a laptop which shares my internet connection through wifi. Although the iphone see's the adhoc network, it doesn't connect properly, and when I use safari, it doesn't work.

Also I have to reset network settings a couple of times to make the phone recognize my sim.

What can I do to make all this correct? I have downloaded a custom firmware of 2.2.1 without the baseband update. But I'm afraid to update the iphone since I'm not sure whether wifi will work then too. If it doesn't then I wont be able to download yellowsn0w and unlock the phone.

    Help please (:

What program are you using to tether? Have you tried PDANet and tethering with the USB cord? As far as your SIM card issue... that's a hardware connection... does it say No SIM or No Service?... need a little more info.

    Cool :)
Just restore using 2.2 (google for "iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw") Do NOT!!!! use 2.2.1 it will LOCK yr phone! - Yellowsn0w can't unlock the baseband! - it is also VERY DIFFICULT to undo the upgrade.
