    Default reset...Need help !!
i ended up resetting my iphone (2g) and i thought that it would only reset the settings and not totally wipe out the firmware, i think it was on 2.0? or something like that, can someone please help me reinstall the firmware and jailbreak the phone?

however i can still receive and make calls, is this normal??

i really dont want to turn the phone into a brick

if your with AT&T you can just go to 2.2.1
restore and use quickpwn 2.2.5 to re-jailbreak

would you recommend the better one??

I don't know if this is the usual thing but I am still able to make and receive calls, so I plugged it up to itunes and ran a diagnostic and it said

    Apple Mobile Device 2.1.2.7

    **** iPod/iPhone Connectivity Tests ****

    iPodService 8.0.2.20 is currently running.
    iTunesHelper 8.0.2.20 is currently running.
Apple Mobile Device service 2.12.33.0 is currently running.

and now i'm confused as to which version i should download..

You can download any firmware from here....iClarified - iPhone - Where To Download iPhone Firmware Files From

    Turm the phone off
plug it in to the usb cable
hold the power & home button for about 10sec
then release the power button, but keep holding the home button down in till itunes recognizes it.

You need a mac, and use pwnagetool to build a custom ipsw to install by itunes.
