Awesome. I'm still deciding whether or not to Jailbreak my phone. This might be a restarted question, but...is there any applications in which I can download (for example: a video recorder program) and put on my phone without jailbreaking it?

Dont mean to hijack your thread OP but I have a similar question and hence I'm asking here.

Do I need some firmware file or something to restore it? Im 98% convinced I will jailbreak my one week old 2.2.1 iphone 3g but before I just proceed, I want to make sure that I will be able to get it back to the state it was sold to me by the carrier.

Most importantly, do I lose all my sms and contacts from the phone when I jailbreak? What exactly does the backup function do? Im specifically looking for what it backs up.

    Thanks

my iphone recently gave my the restore sign, so i recovered it to 2.2.1, i was on 2.2 so i dl the quickpwn file and i unzip and it tell me 'the program failed to initialize properly' and then it gives me a code and terminates the program. wuts the problem?

Create a folder on your desktop called Quickpwn, redownload the Quickpwn software and unzip it to that folder. You can also stick any custom firmwares in that folder as well so they are easy to locate when you are jailbreaking.

    Sometimes the downloads are corrupt.
