Default Upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 on 3g
Ok, since I know everyone is in an uproar about 2.2.1, I wanted to get all of my facts straight first. I know that I don't want to upgrade to 2.2.1 yet since there is no good quickpwn available right now from the devteam for it.

    This is what I have:
    iPhone 3g running 2.1 with modem 2.11.07
    AT&T service (I don't need/want an unlock anytime)
    MS Windows Vista 64-bit
    Itunes 8.0.2.20

I want to upgrade to just the 2.2 firmware. What is the best route to do this? I usually wait a few months to get the next upgrade to see what problems people are having. I have read that using the shift+restore in iTunes 8 right now is forcing a 2.2.1 upgrade/download. I guess I could just wait a week or so to see if the devteam releases a new quickpwn, too. I just wanted to know if going to just 2.2 right now was still possible. Thanks in advance everyone. Links to any tutorials or quick instructions are fine.

You can d/l 2.2 for the 3G from here....iClarified - iPhone - Where To Download iPhone Firmware Files From

And use shift + restore to the f/w you d/l.
