Default To jailbreak or to not jailbreak
Hi, i got an Iphone for christmas. It currently has 1.1.3 on it. I am very interested in getting some 3rd party apps on this thing but i am worried about turning my fance phone into a brick. so i am worried about how safe jailbreaking is. I have also read that apple is going to allow 3rd party apps on the iphone in febuary. so my question is

Should I jailbreak the iphone now, wait for the dev team version, or wait till apple allows us to have 3rd party apps?

It depends on few things with your phone...i think it is better to wait...if you are not sure what to do...

There are many benefits of jailbreaking your phone. Although 1.1.3 isnt the most promising jailbreak, 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 jailbreaks are most stable, safe and beneficial. In 1.1.3, some great apps dont work due to many changes to prepare for the SDK coming soon. Also features like locate me on maps doesnt work on 1.1.3 and there are other bugs as well. But if you decide to jailbreak, 1.1.2 is my reccomendation untill the SDK is released to get official 3rd party apps.
