    Default 2.0 Update Question
    Hi,
I am using an unlocked first gen iPhone and am wondering if I can still use my phone after I update to 2.0. I have AT&T service, but I'm using the $15 dollar unlimited medianet instead of the $20 iPhone data plan.

Will I still be able to use my phone after I update?

If you update all your apps will be gone and your phone will be LOCKED. Stay put for now

Well yes I understand my phone will be locked. But I'm using AT&T anyway, just on the $15 dollar unlimited medianet instead of the $20 iPhone data plan. My question is will I still be able to use my phone?

Oh ok i understand your question. It's just a firmware upgrade so your rate plan stays the same and should work just fine.

Ah, so I can continue paying $15 a month instead of $20 right? Haha, I know I sound cheap but it really does add up. AT&T's not gonna like find out if my phone gets re-locked right?

^^^Unless you changed your IMEI, they already know you are using the iPhone. When I log into my account, it shows my device as an iPhone but "Pay Per Use" data. I used the SIM out of my old AT&T phone and iLiberty+ to Activate/JB.
    Apples taste good.

Oh haha never knew that. Its weird how I've been getting away with just using the $15 dollar data then.

I guess that means I have nothing to lose by updating? Except for my custom theme and apps

I'm doing the same thing where i'm not on an iPhone plan either so my MMS works, but I changed my IMEI. I winder what they'll say when I try and "upgrade" if i don't have an iphone plan on the account.

Ah, do you suggest me changing my IMEI then? Or is there really nothing to worry about?

Thanks for your guy's help btw.

^^^Visual Voicemail is an iPhone-plan-specific feature.

Oh wtf, I updated the phone and in the end it became unactivated. Does this mean I have to activate again? Another 2 year contract?!

I guess I gotta Ziphone again then

Thanks for mentioning that I'm going to have to activate my phone again.

Now im screwed until they come out with 2.0 unlocker.
