    Default OTB 1.1.1 newb.
So i bought my phone ages ago, it was a 1.1.1 otb and i got it working perfect, a few months back i got it to 1.1.2 and its been rugging sluggish ever since.

Ive decided i need to get it upto the latest release.

The phone is currently on 1.1.2(3B48b)
    Modem firmware 04.02.13_G

It was OTB 1.1.1 as i mentioned.

    I have downloaded iliberty 1.2.1.78

As it has been months since making the phone work i have forgotten pretty much everything and im not quite sure where to start.

I have searched this forum and google but i cant afford to really stuff my phone up as i have alot of important calls coming in and out very often.

Any help etc would be appreciated

Sorry to make a frustrating post.

    OK! can someone confirm this.

From what i can find, no matter what firmware or modem firmware version im on, i just goto itunes, update to 1.1.4
then the phone will be locked.

then open iliberty, jailbreak it and everything and it will be working fine?

I wont lose any contacts or information currently in my phone? <-important.

And will i need anysim or?

If i could get this answered ill be on my way to getting it done!
    Thanks

You need to go into itunes and RESTORE not update. Since your iphone has been jailbroken, you cannot just update it.

Afterwards jailbreak, activate and unlock with iliberty.

Yes, you will loose what you have on the iphone

    Hope this helps.

i have just sync'd all my contacts with outlook and saved al my photos.

once i update it i can sync all my contacts straight back onto the phone correct?

Downloading 1.1.4 now and then i will restore it to 1.1.4 and run lib

  11. #8
yes, you can do that with contacts and photo's etc.

I suggest check the cydia box on the iliberty+ main page. After you are booted up with the jailbroken phone. Refresh cydia and then from cydia install the "installer". That gives you the best of both (installer) worlds.

P.S. before you start cydia, got to setup and set the lock to never.

Cydia has always been my first install of many jailbreaks. It move apps to the large partition, installs BSD, etc. Sets proper links.

Glad it worked out for you.... Now for the all the app installs

  18. #13
Is there anything i should update to do with clydia? it says there are 40 changes? Updating them all now.

I have updated all of them twice now, but it doesnt seem to be making any differance, there is still 40 updates. it installs them all then restarts.. and gives me the same message at the start screen. telling me im using an old version. and there are 40 changes still

Yes, let cydia update (be sure to have unlock set to never). After you install the "installer" you will also have updates to it also.

I haven't seen that. Will it let you into the install section? If so install "installer"

Also... try shutting the phone down and restarting.
