can u tell me if i can use iTunes 7.4.1.2 for this? i tried to do the 1st step, that is to downgrade from V1.1.2 to V1.1.1, but when i press shift and try restoring it, then nothing happens.

I think i have to use iTunes 7.5 to solve this problem. Is it so?? Thanx for replying.

i believe 7.4 works but i havent tested it... make sure you hold shift while you click restore. a file browser thing should pop up for you to navigate to the downloaded firmware.

that's weird. Thankfully its also fine... The 1.1.1 downgrade step isn't really neccessary it just makes it easier for inexperienced people. As long as you get to 1.0.2 it doesnt matter how, just follow the rest of the tutorial

u can use mobile terminal if you want but i would suggest using putty like i believe the guide says...

When i try to run iEraser...it goes through...but when the erase part comes...it is only 2 lines...and i know it's not only two lines...then i get the following:
"Hopefully the main flash was erased, wait for the next step..."

then i run bbupdater and the baseband is still there...the 04.02 one...

secpack and secpack.bin are on the usr/bin directory...

i have the iphone at 1.0.2 and itunes 7.4.3 on windows...

    Default All Successful
I have successfully downgraded twice using your original method. Thank you for cleaning the tutorial some.

I had no problems except with the windows.bat file. It would just blink on and off. It was very frustrating. To the point that I resigned myself to stay with the 1.1.1.

I had a thought and tried to make sure that oktoprep was installed (which when I originally tried this last week, was). BAM! No go. Again the windows.bat just blinked.

Well getting files together to downgrade, I had a thought to try it on another computer. Well to make a long story short windows.bat came up and jailbreaked (or is it jailbroke?) my 1.1.2

So if you have an issue, try another computer.

I know this can be frustrating. I spent two weeks trying to raise a dead HTC TYTN from the grave after a bad ROM upgrade last spring. I did a step by step tutorial on xda developers. So I truly can appreciate the work you and others have done to make this easier for us all.

    Godd luck

    Allan

I have solved my problem too. I was not entering the DFU mode properly.

Make sure you hold the sleep/wake button and home button for 10 seconds and then leav it the sleep/wake button until iTunes recognise the phone.

The best method to downgrade the baseband is to use mobile terminal.

Install BSD Subsystem and Mobile terminal using iBrickr and follow the commands given in the guide.

I'm glad you guys both worked out my your problems! I think when I have free time I'm going to update my new tutorial to using mobile terminal instead of putty becuase, yes, it is much more reliable. And if putty crashes in the middle of something you can mess up your phone pretty bad...
