Default Can I restore a jailbroken & unlocked phone on 1.1.1?
Hi, this was posted in the FAQ of a guide I was reading:

"Will my unlocked iPhone survive a restore?

If you restore your phone via iTunes to the same version (i.e. 1.0.2) the answer is yes, your unlock will survive. If a new version comes out, we don't know yet."

I am wondering if I can get confirmation that this is still true with 1.1.1,
as I have a jailbroken and unlocked iphone that does not register the correct capacity (it was 300MB, then I had it fixed to show the entire amount, but now it shows that >1GB is in use by 'other' media, so it is wasted space for me). I would like to try to use itunes to restore to 1.1.1 to see if that will help.

    Thanks in advance!

well, I can confirm that this did not work for me as expected.
Since TruckerBear said that he had done it fine,
    I went ahead and tried.
My iphone is now asking me to connect to iTunes and activate,
    not what I had expected...

(edited b/c it sounded kinda rude before - sorry!)

ok, I thought that it would basically just wipe the contents.
So, if I had the phone jailbroken, and unlocked,
can I just re-jail break it using either independence or the jailbreakme.com method without any risk? It's going to flash the baseband again, I assume, and try to install installer, etc.. but I already had all that done before.

Am I going to have to unlock it again?

I am pretty sure you would not have to unlock again... though you would have to jailbreak and activate using Independence....

    Perfect. I just used jailbreakme.com to re-activte & jailbreak.
I did not have to unlock again.

    Thanks for all your help!
