Thread: iPhonebrowser with 1.1.1

  1. #1
    Default iPhonebrowser with 1.1.1
If this has been asked previously, I apologize, but can't find the answer.
Does anyone know if iPhonebrowser works after a 1.1.1 jailbreak? I use it all the time to transfer files with 1.0.2 and would like to continue using it when I do 1.1.1

I have not yet upgraded, but from what I have read it should continue to work.
There have been some posts showing that it is able to see the whole filesystem on 1.1.1 after jailbreak.

I may be able to let you know for sure later today

After using touchfree v5 (v6 didn't work for me), I could install apps but the afc2 service was not created.

I created it manually and was able to use iPhoneBrowser after that.

Whats the afc2 service and how did you create it?

The old jailbreak (v2) created a copy of the com.apple.afc service called com.apple.afc2.

The original service is used by iTunes to sync. It is locked to the jail.

The new service grants access to root (/), which is why it is called jailbreak. Without this I would say touchfree isn't quite jailbreak.

In any case, you create an entry in the Services.plist file by copying the existing com.apple.afc entry and modifying it a little. If you used touchfree or some other method that left an SSH daemon running, you can use WinSCP or Filezilla to copy the plist to your PC, edit in Wordpad and put it back, then restart your iPhone (cycle power). iPhoneBrowser will start working.

    Details on plist modification:

yeah when i try using iphonebrowser on my 1.1.1 jailbroken iphone it only shows a couple folders in the root directory...it doesnt show all the folders...

anyone know a fix for this?

Note: i did use the iDemocracy method for jailbreaking my 1.1.1 iphone, so idk if that makes a difference or not
